Mononobe

Mononobe
   A noble clan, originally of warriors, associated with the Yamato imperial family. It is recorded that like the Nakatomi they were resistant to the introduction of Buddhism in the sixth century. Mononobe means 'Corporation of Arms'. A Mononobe of the ninth century is believed to have written the Sendai kuji hongi.
